When needing to work with Revit files, there are a number of options:

Direct Revit file import

In recent versions of Vectorworks, it is possible to import Revit files directly into Vectorworks.

More information can be found about this feature here and this video provides an overview:

Note that the Revit file format is a closed, proprietary format so exporting to Revit is not currently possible.

Importing and Exporting between Vectorworks to Revit using the IFC File Format

IFC is standard file type (of sorts) that many applications can exchange. Exchanging IFC files (especially with Revit) is a bit of a trial and error process, so we recommend that you have your most skilled BIM/IFC technician communicate directly with their most knowledgeable IFC-skilled user and go from there. They should be able to coordinate how objects are to be set in Vectorworks so that Revit can import them, and vice-versa. Though exchanging IFC files is getting easier all the time, currently this is best left for those familiar with the format.

Also see this article in the Vectorworks Knowledgebase about Importing Revit files using IFC (and Optimizing Solids).

Attached below is a document that covers sharing your Vectorworks model in an IFC workflow.

We recommend that people use Solibri Model Viewer/Checker (SMC), Tekla BIMsight and or simplebim to look at their IFC models after exporting from Vectorworks, or before they import someone else’s into Vectorworks. SMC works really well for automated checking and is cross-platform.
