When you submit a file-specific tech support question, we will typically need to have your file in hand in order to determine the answer to your question.

(Showing us a screenshot or PDF of an issue is usually not enough to let us diagnose an issue that Vectorworks may be having with your file.)

If we request that you send us a file, one of the most common ways to share a file is by using Dropbox. Therefore, here is some guidance about sharing a file with us using Dropbox:

  1. When you share a files with us via Dropbox, ONLY send us a "Share link" so that we have "view-only" access. This Dropbox help page explains how to do this, under the section "1. Create a shared link"
  2. Please Do Not share the file with using using any Dropbox method that requires you to type in the tech support email address. We cannot access files shared with us in this way. This method for ongoing synchronization and collaboration on files.
  3. Please be aware that if you do not send us a "Share link" we will not be able to download your file and we will be delayed in providing you an answer.

On a Mac, simply put your file in your Dropbox folder and then right-click (or control-click) on it to access the menu. From the menu, choose "Copy Dropbox Link", then paste that link into your reply to us.

On the Dropbox website, hover over the file you want to share, click the Share button, and then "copy link". (DO NOT enter an email address on the To line.) Once the link has been copied to your clipboard you can paste the link into your reply to us.

On a Windows computer, see the instructions below.
