Getting the correct "module" of Vectorworks is key to your successful and productive use of the application.

  1. First, check the current Vectorworks system requirements to make sure that your existing computer(s) are equipped to run Vectorworks. Since you have your computer(s), we rely on you to help determine if your computer(s) are suitable to run Vectorworks.
  2. Next, pick your Vectorworks "module" based on the kind of work you do, and read more by following the links below:
    • If you work in architecture, building design or do any kind of work involving buildings, you will likely want Vectorworks Architect or Vectorworks Designer.
    • If you work in entertainment, theatre, exhibit design or event design, you will likely want Vectorworks Spotlight, Vectorworks Architect or Vectorworks Designer
    • If you work in landscape or site design, you will likely want Vectorworks Landmark or Vectorworks Designer.
    • If you work in product design, carpentry, general drafting or basic trade show booth design, you can consider Vectorworks Fundamentals. Please keep in mind that Fundamentals is a more limited version of Vectorworks and that if you are in architecture, entertainment or landscape design, one of the previous listed Design Series products will likely serve you better than Fundamentals. (If you do product design, carpentry, general drafting or basic trade show booth design and tend to draw/model/show aspects of architecture, specialized theatre lighting/sound or site design, you may find yourself well served by the great additional features in one of the Design Series modules.) If, after using Fundamentals for a while, you find you need the features of a Design Series product, you can always add one.
